Global Girmit Institute is the Global Centre for the Study and Advancement of Girmit Diaspora.
In the interim, it is headquartered in Fiji where it is registered as a Charitable Trust under the laws of Fiji. GGI has received a major book donation from Professor Brij Lal which will become part of the library of the GGI.

GGI operates the facebook page: Girmit Global.

The GGI is working towards establishment and/or building formal and informal links with similar bodies throughout the Girmit world.

GGI’s trademark “Papers on Indenture” aims to publish well researched peer reviewed papers on any aspect of life of Girmitiyas throughout the world.

GGI also aims to make available as many publications on Girmitiyas as is possible.

GGI is now also working on developing postgraduate programmes in various aspects of Girmitiyas, to be offered by reputable universities.
